G-road β€” Help & FAQ

G-road is the Shopify app. G-EDIT is the product editor inside it, so the answers below call it G-EDIT. No sign-in needed.

Getting started

I just opened G-EDIT for the first time. Where do I start?

Confirm the 3 essentials that appear first, and you go straight to your product list.

You confirm your selling currency, where products ship from, and how you want to use size charts. Everything else is pre-set to G-EDIT's recommended values, and you can change any of it later while editing a product.

Can I start adding products before finishing the settings?

Yes. Confirm just the 3 essentials and you can start right from your product list.

The remaining settings are defaults that save you repeating the same work β€” product names, photos, prices. You don't have to finish them first; open "Settings" in the left menu whenever you want to check or change them.

I'd like to see how the editor works again.

Press "πŸ“– Guide" at the top right of the product editor to see it again any time.

There are two of them. "All edit fields at a glance" gathers every field on one screen so you can see what each one does, and "Walk through the edit order" points at the screen step by step. The walkthrough opens once by itself the first time you come in; once you close it, it won't open again β€” this button is where you go back to it.

Importing products

Which products show up in my product list?

Every product in your store.

The three tabs at the top split them up β€” "My store products" (all) Β· "Editing" Β· "Published". "Hide editing" and "Hide published" are on by default, so products you haven't touched yet come first, and each chip shows how many are hidden. Turn a chip off and the hidden products come back.

How do I import a product when I don't know its supplier?

On that product's row press [Start editing], choose "Start from another link", and paste the supplier's product page link.

The link you paste is saved as that product's supplier, so you won't have to enter it again. Pressing [Start editing] shows the ways to start β€” "Start from the connected supplier" (uses the currently connected product info) Β· "Start from another link" (fetches from the address you paste) Β· "Start from my store info as-is" (fetches nothing from a supplier). For a product with no known supplier, only the last two appear. For a product you already imported, the β‹― menu on its row has "Fetch again", which re-fetches photos and videos only β€” product info is left as it is.

What's the difference between the three ways to "Start editing"?

It's where you choose whether to fetch fresh data from the supplier, or edit with what's already in your store.

"Start from the connected supplier" uses the currently connected product info to fetch photos, descriptions and options again. "Start from another link" fetches from the address you paste. "Start from my store info as-is" fetches nothing from a supplier and opens the editor with what's in your store β€” use it when you only want to touch the title or price of a product that's already published.

I pasted a link but it says it couldn't import.

What to do depends on the message you got.

"We don't support this site yet" means nothing can be imported from that site, so you'll need to upload the images and videos yourself while editing the product. "We couldn't find a product number in that link" means the site works but the address isn't a product page β€” copy the address of a page with Β«a single product openΒ», not a search result or a list.

Can I see the original product page I imported from?

For products with an external source, "β†— Open original link" on the left of the editor takes you back to it.

It sits between the product name and [← List], and opens in a new window. Products without an external source don't show this line.

Automation Β· AI

Where do I change the settings the AI applies automatically?

You can change the automation settings at any time.

The quickest way is to press the βš™ next to a field's title while editing a product β€” it takes you straight to that setting. To see them all together, open "Settings β†’ Automation" and review or change each rule. A rule you change applies from the next product you edit onwards.

Can I edit a value that was filled in automatically?

Yes, go ahead. A value you edit yourself won't be overwritten again by the automation rules.

If you edit a value a rule produced β€” a product name, for example β€” your version stays from then on. If you want to see the original name from the supplier, it's under "See original name" next to the product name.

"Additional product info" is empty β€” do I have to fill it in?

You can approve without it. It's a field you can leave empty.

It's where you put information to show on the product page alongside the product β€” material, washing instructions and the like. Which fields you use is changed under the additional info βš™ β†’ "Choose which items to use", and only when the field you need doesn't exist at all do you add it under "Create a new item". Values you use often can be set in advance in the automation settings.

Photos Β· Videos

How do I drop photos I don't need from what was imported?

Uncheck the box on the photo.

An unchecked photo isn't deleted β€” it stays folded below the photo grid as "Unused photos N". To use it again, open that group and check it. When you approve, only checked photos go to your store.

How do I set the photo order and the featured photo?

Drag a photo to change the order β€” the first photo becomes the featured one.

The order number is written on every photo, and the featured one is tagged "Featured photo". Rules you want to be the same for every product, such as the photo ratio, can be set in advance under the "Photo editing" automation rules.

Can I edit videos too?

Yes. Press "Edit video" on a video and the editor opens.

In the editor you can pick a ratio (9:16 and so on), trim the length, and turn the sound on or off. Press [Done] and your changes are saved to that video. Close it without pressing and nothing changes.

Size charts

How do I get the size chart onto the product page automatically?

Choose to use GloSize and it goes in automatically when you approve the product.

If you don't use GloSize, take it with [Copy] above the table. If you haven't connected it yet, you can choose it on the "Size chart" settings screen. Edit the table and approve again and GloSize is updated automatically too.

What is GloSize?

It's a size chart app that puts your size chart on the product page.

It lets your customers pick the unit they want to read. Choose to use it and the size chart you made in G-EDIT goes in automatically when you approve a product. Even without it, a size chart you made can be taken as-is with [Copy].

Price Β· Options

Is the selling price set automatically?

Change the cost, shipping, fees or margin and the calculated default price goes straight in.

The value calculated from the pricing rule you set (cost Β· shipping Β· fees Β· margin) goes straight into the price field. If you edit a variant price yourself, that row stays as "Set separately"; clear the field and it goes back to the calculated default.

The price isn't being calculated β€” I only get a message.

It means a value the calculation needs is still empty.

We write what's missing right there. If it's a value that differs per product, such as cost or shipping, fill it in on that field; if it's the same every time, such as fees or margin, set it in the pricing rules. Once the values are there, the result goes straight into the default price.

Can I edit option names and values, or add a new option?

Yes. You can edit names and values right there, and create new options with [οΌ‹ Add option].

Drag to change the option order; when the screen opens, an option you pick first β€” colour, typically β€” is tidied to the front once automatically. If you don't like that tidy-up, press [Undo]. The letter case of English option names changes only when you press [Abc]Β·[ABC]Β·[abc]. You can add a new option (Color, for example), but building individual option combinations (variants) row by row isn't available yet.

Saving Β· Approving

If I leave in the middle of editing, is my work saved?

Nothing but photos and videos is saved automatically. You have to press "Save draft" or "Approve".

Before you've saved, "Not saved" shows at the bottom of the screen. If you try to leave for the list or another screen in that state, it asks once: "Keep editing / Save draft and leave / Leave without saving". Photos and videos are the exception β€” when an upload finishes, or you press [Apply] in the image editor or [Done] in the video editor, that media alone is saved immediately.

What happens after I approve?

Approving saves everything you've changed and starts sending it to your store.

When you press approve, "Saved" appears briefly and you go back to the product list. Sending to the store continues in the background, and when it's done you'll find it under "Published" in the list. If a product didn't go through, we tell you on that product's editing screen.

Can I edit again after approving?

Yes. You can reopen an approved product from the list, edit it, and approve it again.

Press [Edit] on that product in the product list to make changes again. Approve again after editing and your store is updated again too.

Does approving put the product on sale right away?

It follows what you set in advance. It's written on the approve row at the bottom of the screen as "Product status after approval".

"Active" means it appears in your store as soon as you approve and your customers can buy it straight away. "Draft" means it goes into Shopify but isn't visible in your store. You can change this in settings any time.

When something goes wrong

The approve button is grey and won't press.

Usually it's because nothing has changed since your last approval, or because something is still being prepared.

With no changes there's nothing to send again, so it locks. It unlocks as soon as there are changes to save. It also locks while something is being prepared, such as photos being fetched. For the exact reason, check the note next to the approve button β€” if there's a reason it's locked, it's written right there.
